Preview for Online Communication
To design and develop diverse activities that use information technologies to improve communication and collaboration among students and experts to advance learning.
Teachers and students currently have access to numerous tools that allow for collaboration across classrooms, cities, and even countries. Languages translation is available in real time, so the only real barrier to global communication is access to the required technology.
The Partnership for 21st Century Skills outlines skills that students today should be learning, including creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. Using web-based and other technology tools currently available to you, develop a classroom activity for your content area that fosters collaboration outside your own classroom. Who will your students collaborate with (other students, professionals, guest speakers, etc)? Why is that population appropriate for your unit? What new knowledge can the collaborating classrooms discover? What tools will you use to aid your students in communication, learning, and collaboration?
