Planning and Strategy Development

After establishing learning goals and outcomes, learners will need guidance for developing strategies to learn the content, rather than repeatedly employing the trail and error strategy with little regard to building connections. Designers can entourage the learner to stop and think as the learner moves through the content, encouraging the learner to use specific, thought-provoking strategies as they make attempts to build connections. Rather than the trial and error method, considering which attempts may be most successful allows the learner to build decision-making skills, as well as meaningful connections and move information more quickly into long term memory.
